A wire when bent in the form of a square encloses an area of 484 sq cm. What will be the enclosed area when the same wire is bent into the form of a circle? \[\left( \text{Take}\,\,\pi =\frac{22}{7} \right)\]

    A) 462 sq cm

    B)  539 sq cm

    C)  616 sq cm

    D)  693 sq cm

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Length of wire \[\text{=}\,\,\text{4 }\!\!\times\!\!\text{ }\sqrt{\text{Area}\,\,\text{of}\,\,\text{square}}\] \[=4\sqrt{484}=4\times 22=88\,\,\text{cm}\] Let the radius of circle = r cm Clearly, circumference of circle = 88 cm \[\Rightarrow \]               \[2\pi r=88\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[2\times \frac{22}{7}\times r=88\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[r=\frac{88\times 7}{2\times 22}=14\,\,\text{cm}\] \[\therefore \] Area of circle \[=\pi {{r}^{2}}=\frac{22}{7}\times 14\times 14=616\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]
