The volume of cuboid is twice that of a cube. If the dimensions of a cuboid are 9 cm, 8 cm and 6 cm the total surface area of the cube is

    A)  \[216\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]

    B)  \[236\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]

    C)  \[343\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]

    D)  \[512\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Volume of cuboid \[=9\times 8\times 6=432\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{3}}\] So, volume of cube \[=\frac{432}{2}=216\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{3}}\] So, side of cube \[=\sqrt[3]{216}=6\,\,\text{cm}\] Therefore, total surface area of cube \[=(6\times {{6}^{2}})\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}=216\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]
