  • question_answer
If the chord \[y=mx+1\] of the circle \[{{x}^{2}}+{{y}^{2}}=1\] subtends an angle \[45{}^\circ \] at the major segment of the circle, then value of m is

    A)  2

    B)  - 2

    C)  - 1

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

As angle at the centre is double than angle subtended at the circumference and chord \[y=mx+1\] passing through (0, 1) and (1, 0) subtends \[{{90}^{0}}\] at origin, hence possible slopes are either 1 or - 1.
