Why the capacitance of a capacitor is not affected by surrounding conducting bodies?

    A)  From the formula C = q/V, if q changes, V changes and hence, C remains same

    B)  The plates of the capacitor are arranged in such a way that the field created by charges accumulated on the plate is concentrated almost completely inside the capacitor

    C)  Capacitance changes due to induction phenomenon

    D)  Both a and b

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

With respect to option b as field is not coming out so they will not redistribute the charges-of surrounding bodies and hence, no change in potential of capacitor and hence, C is not affected by surrounding bodies.
