    Solution :

    [a] : Since both roots of given equations \[a{{x}^{2}}+px+q=0\] and \[b{{x}^{2}}+lx+m=0\]are common. \[\therefore \]\[\frac{a}{b}=\frac{p}{l}=\frac{q}{m}\] Taking\[\frac{p}{l}=\frac{q}{m}\Rightarrow pm=lq\].
