[a] Union Government's Sukanya Samridhi Yojana under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign launched in 2015 to enhance the strength and honour of the girl children across the country. It is a small deposit scheme for girl child below the age of 10. The accounts can be opened by girls parents or legal guardian and in one family. Maximum two accounts can be opened for two girls children in post offices or the banks and the account can be transferred anywhere in India. The girl can withdraw 50% of money after reaching age of 18 for higher education or marriage. PNB become the first bank to implement this scheme, in account. The minimum deposit is Rs1000 and maximum deposit is Rs1.5 lakh and account will remain operative until she reaches 21 years of age.
