In economic field, many towns of North India show their downfall in this period. So, in economic context term 'golden period' can't be justified. Guptas possessed a large quantity of gold and issued the largest number of gold coins, but they were not the purest coins. Purest coins were issued by Kushans. In this period, art was largely inspired by religions The typical Hindu Gods like Vishnu, Shiva and others go place for the first time in images and architecture.
