Answer:

(i) When the farmer saw his wife in fear he said that she needn?t be afraid, because mongoose was a friendly animal. It was as sweet as their baby was and they were best friends.

(ii) Ray was deaf and dumb so whatever he wanted to communicate, he wrote on the note-pad.

(iii) (a) He thought himself that if someone sang Raga Megh, it would save him. He taught his daughter Saraswati and her friend Raga Megh. He asked them to sing only after the lamps started burning.

(b) Yes, this plan worked well. Soon as he started singing, air became hot, audience bathed in perspiration, leaves dried up and fell, river water started boiling. Suddenly flames shot up and lighted lamps. Just then the two girls started singing Raga Megh, thus, Tansen was saved.

(iv) The sleep has been called a wonder because it brings soothing effect to our body, when we are tired. It makes us alert and active.

(v) When the ghost was fast asleep, Vijay Singh placed a bolster in the bed and covered it and he himself quietly sat in a corner. Just before dawn the ghost got up and struck the bolster hard with a mace thinking it to be Vijay Singh. Thus, Vijay Singh saved himself with his wit and wisdom.
