Direction: In each question three statements followed by two conclusions numbered l and II have been given. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with the commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements. Give answer.
Statements:  Some tests are exams. Some exams are papers. All papers are interviews. Conclusions: I. At least some interviews are tests. II. No interview is a test.

    A)  If only conclusion II follows.

    B)  If both conclusion I and II follow.

    C)  If neither conclusion I nor II follows.

    D)  If either conclusion I or II follows.

    E)  If only conclusion I follows.

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Some exams are papers (I) + All papers are interviews [A] = I + A = I = some exams are interviews (I). Now, some tests are exams + some exams are interviews = I + I = No conclusion. But conclusion 1 and II make a complementary pair (I-E). Thus, either conclusion I or II follows.
