    Sunday 420 5 : 6 250
    Monday 350 3 : 5 240
    Tuesday 320 5 : 4 320
    Wednesday 300 6 : 5 300
    Thursday 420 2 : 3 320.
Total number who attended= Number of Literates + Number of Illiterates What is the ratio of the total number of males (Literates + Illiterates) who attended the workshop on Monday arid Tuesday together to that of females (Literates and illiterates) who attended the workshop on the same days together?

    A)  5 : 6

    B)  7 : 9

    C)  4  : 7

    D)         9 : 7

    E)  3 : 2

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Number of Illiterate (males + females) on Monday \[=350\times \frac{3}{5}=210\] \[\therefore \]Number of Illiterate (males + females) on Tuesday\[=320\times \frac{5}{4}=400\] \[\therefore \]Number of females (Liteate + Illiterate) on Monday = (350 + 210 - 240) = 320 Similarly on Tuesday = (320 + 400 - 320) = 400 \[\therefore \]Reqd ratio\[=\frac{240+320}{320+400}=\frac{560}{720}=\frac{7}{9}\] = 7 : 9
