Mention any two main significant features of the Himalayan rivers.

    Answer:

    (a) The Himalayan rivers, e.g., Indus, Ganga, Brahmaputra, have their source in glaciers.
They form gorges in mountain region.
    (b) They are perennial as they are snow-fed and rain-fed. They maintain reasonable flow throughout the year.
    (c) They flow over plains and form meanders, flood plains and ox-bow lakes. They perform both intensive erosional and depositional activity and thus carry huge load of sand and silt.
