The roots of the equation \[\sqrt{3x+1}+1=\sqrt{x}\] are

    A) 0

    B) 1

    C) 0, 1

    D) None

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Given equation is \[\sqrt{3x+1}+1=\sqrt{x}\] Þ  \[\sqrt{3x+1}=\sqrt{x}-1\] Squaring on both sides, we get \[3x+1=x+1-2\sqrt{x}\] \[\Rightarrow 2\sqrt{x}+2x=0\] (irrational function) Thus \[x\ne 0\] and\[x\ne 1\], since equation is non-quadratic equation.
