(i) presence of large number of perennial rivers.

(ii) levelled plain and soft alluvial soil helps in easy and cheaper construction of wells and tubewells.

(iii) high water table.

(iv) wells and tube wells provide assured irrigation to agricultural farmlands in northern India.
