    The three age groups of India's population are:
    (a) 0-14 years, 34.33% (2001). It includes children who are dependent on their parents. They are highly demanding in terms of their health, educational and nutritional needs.
    (b) 15-59 years, 58.7% (2001). This group consists of workers and are economically independent.
    They are the working force of the country.                                                             
    (c) Above 59 years, 6.97% (2001). This group comprises of senior citizens, who become non-workers after retirement.
