Answer:
(a) The census is a count of population of a country. It takes place after every ten years. It collects various kinds of information about the members of the household. On the basis of this information, government provides the details about birth rate, death rate, literacy rate, sex ratio, etc. (b) Optimum population refers to favourable population. As the size of the population in a country grows, the production of goods and services also increases. In other words, the optimum population and the optimum utilisation of resources are correlated.
