    Features of Peninsular Plateau are:
    (a) It is the oldest plateau of the Indian sub-continent. It is formed due to breaking and drifting of Gondwanaland.
    (b) It is made of volcanic trap and has igneous and metamorphie rocks.
    (c) Its average height varies from 600 to 900 metres. It is flanked by two edges, the western and eastern ghats.
    (d) It contains rich mineral deposits, has black, red and laterite soils.
    (e) The plateau consists of two broad divisions-central highlands and deccan plateau.
