Sub-continent is actually a large mass of land, separated from the main continent by a bold land barrier, e.g., the Himayalas have separated the Indian sub-continent from the rest of Asia.  The Indian sub-continent is the most natural geographical unit, which has developed a very distinctive culture. It is very different from rest of Asia regarding climate, vegetation and culture. Countries which constitute Indian sub-continent are Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. They share common borders.
