Why does the conductivity of a semiconductor increase with rise of temperature?

    Answer:

When a semiconductor is heated, more and more electrons jump across the forbidden gap from valence band to conduction band where these are free to conduct electricity. Hence the conductivity increases with the increase in temperature.
