The figure given below is the distance-time graph of three objects. Do you think it represents a real situation? Explain. (i) Which of the three is travelling the fastest? (ii) Can all three ever be at the same point on the road? (iii) When B passes A, where is C? (iv) How far did B travel between the time B passed C?

    Answer:

                    (i) The slope of distance-time plot is equal to be the speed of the moving body. Here, the graph for the person B has the highest slope. Therefore, the person B is travelling the fastest. (ii) No. Because there is no point where all the three lines intersect each other. (iii) From the graph, the person B meets person A at a distance of about 9.5 km. At that point of time, C is at a distant of about 7 km. (iv) B is at a distant of 5 km from the start when he passed C.
