    A) Only 1

    B) Only 2

    C) Both 1 and 2

    D) Neither 1 nor 2

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Article 124 [a] of the Indian Constitution stipulates that "There shall be a Supreme Court of India constituting of a Chief Justice of India and, until Parliament by law prescribes a larger number of not more than seven other Judges". At present the Supreme Court consists of thirty one judges (one chief justice and thirty other judges). Under article 315 the UPSC consists of a chairman and other members appointed by the president of India. The constitution without specifying the strength of the Commission has left the matter to the discretion of the president, who determines its composition.
