Perimeters of the given square A and rectangle B are same. Find the area of rectangle B.

    A)  \[\text{24 c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]

    B)         \[\text{30 c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]

    C)  \[\text{25 c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]

    D)         \[\text{36 c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]

    E) None of these

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Explanation: Option (a) is correct. Perimeter of square A \[=4\times \text{side}=(4\times 5)\text{ cm}\] \[=20\text{ cm}\] Now, the length of rectangle B = 6 cm Therefore, the perimeter of rectangle B = 2 (length + breadth) or, \[2\times \](length + breadth) = 20 cm, or, \[\frac{2\times (\text{length}+\text{breadth})}{2}=\frac{20}{2}\text{cm}\], or, length + breadth = 10 cm, or, 6 cm + 4 cm = 10 cm. Hence, breadth = 4 cm Therefore, the required area of rectangle B = \[\text{length}\times \text{breadth}\] \[=(6\times 4)\text{ c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}=24\text{ c}{{\text{m}}^{2}}\]
