    [a] Let the denominator and numerator of the fraction be x and y respectively.
    According to the question,
    \[x+y=13\]                    ...(1)
    and      \[x-y=3\]                      ...(2)
    On adding eqs. (1) and (2), we get
                            \[2x=16\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\Rightarrow \,\,\,\,\,\,x=8\]
    From eq. (1), we get y=13-8=5                   
    \[\therefore \] Required fraction is\[\text{5}/\text{8}\].
