Point P(0, 2) is the point of intersection of Y-axis and perpendicular bisector of line segment joining the points A (-1, 1) and 5(3, 3).

    A) True

    B) False

    C) Can't say

    D) Partially True/False

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

We know that, the points lies on perpendicular bisector of the line segment joining the two points is equidistant from these two points.
    \[\therefore \,\,PA=\sqrt{{{\left( -1-0 \right)}^{2}}+{{\left( 1-2 \right)}^{2}}}\]
                \[=\sqrt{1+1}=\sqrt{2}\]units
    \[PB=\sqrt{{{\left( 3-0 \right)}^{2}}+{{\left( 3-2 \right)}^{2}}}=\sqrt{9+1}=10\]units
    \[\because \,\,\,PA\ne PB\]
So, the point P does not lie on the perpendicular bisctor of AB.
