10th Class Mathematics Areas Related to Circles Question Bank MCQs - Areas Related to Circles

  • question_answer
The radii of two circles are 13 cm and 6 cm, respectively. Then, the radius of the circle which has circumference equal to sum of the circumferences of the two circles is

    A) 17cm

    B) 19cm

    C) 7cm

    D) 11cm

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Let r cm be the radius of the required circle.    According to the question, we have Circumference of the required circle having radius r cm = Circumference of the circle having radius 13 cm + Circumference of the circle having radius 6 cm
    \[\therefore \,\,2\pi r=2\pi \left( 13 \right)+2\pi \left( 6 \right)\]
                [\[\because\] circumference of circle\[=2\pi r\]]
    \[\Rightarrow \,\,\,2\pi r=2\pi \left( 13+6 \right)\]
                \[\Rightarrow \,\,\,r=19\,cm\]
Hence, the radius of the required circle is 19 cm.
