(b) But nationalists like Babasaheb Ambedkar continued to wear western clothes. Many Dalits in the early 20th century wore three piece suits and socks on all public occasions as a political statement of self-respect. (c) Many did not wear khadi as khadi was costly and they could not afford to do so. (d) Women like Sarojini Naidu and Kamala Nehru wore coloured saris with designs instead of coarse khadi.
