In the given figure, \[\mathbf{AB}\parallel \mathbf{DC}\]. If \[\mathbf{x=}\frac{\mathbf{4}}{\mathbf{3}}\mathbf{y}\] and \[\mathbf{y=}\frac{\mathbf{3}}{\mathbf{5}}\mathbf{z}\], find the values of y.

    A)  \[{{45}^{{}^\circ }}\]

    B)  \[{{44}^{{}^\circ }}\]

    C)  \[{{36}^{{}^\circ }}\]

    D)  \[{{40}^{{}^\circ }}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    (a): Given \[AB\parallel CD\] and BC is transversal, then \[\angle B+\angle C=180{}^\circ \] \[\Rightarrow \]\[x+y+z={{180}^{{}^\circ }}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[\frac{4y}{3}+y+\frac{5y}{3}=180\Rightarrow y={{45}^{{}^\circ }}\]
