How many kilograms of tea at Rs 20 per kg should be mixed with 14 kg of tea costing Rs 30 per kg so as to sell the mixture at Rs 27 per kg without gaining or losing anything in the transaction?

    A)  6 kg

    B)  7 kg

    C)  15 kg

    D)  10 kg

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    (a): Let weight of Rs 20 per kg tea = x Weight of Rs 30 per kg tea = y Then \[20x+30y=27\left( x+y \right)\]   \[20x+30y=27x+27y\] \[7x=3y\] \[\frac{x}{y}=\frac{3}{7}\] Hence weight of Rs. 20 per kg tea = 6 kg
