    Maharashtra has nearly three million hectares of land under jowar cultivation which is about 49% of the total jowar area of India. Andhra Pradesh is the largest producer of groundnut in India accounting for 23.37% of the country. This is followed by Tamil Nadu (18.11%) and Gujarat (16.00%). Rajasthan has the largest area of cultivable wastelands in India due to its dry climate and sandy soils. Punjab has the highest yield of 4577 kg/hr of wheat in India. This is followed by Haryana 4448 kg/ hr, Rajasthan 3174 kg/hr and Uttar Pradesh 3114 kg/hr.
