The domain of the function \[y=\frac{1}{\sqrt{|x|\ -x}}\] is              [Roorkee 1998; RPET 2000]

    A)            \[(-\infty ,\ 0)\]

    B)             \[(-\infty ,\ 0]\]

    C)            \[(-\infty ,\ -1)\]

    D)            \[(-\infty ,\ \infty )\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

For it must \[|x|-x>0\]            \[|x|\,\,>x\] but \[|x|\,\,=x\] for x positive and \[|x|\,\,>x\] for x negative. So, domain will be \[(-\,\infty ,\,\,0)\].
