  • question_answer Simplify: \[4\frac{3}{5}-2\frac{7}{9}-1\frac{2}{15}-\frac{2}{5}\]

    A)  \[\frac{14}{45}\]

    B)  \[\frac{13}{45}\]

    C)  \[\frac{16}{45}\]

    D)  \[\frac{12}{45}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    We have, \[4\frac{3}{5}-2\frac{7}{9}-1\frac{2}{15}-\frac{2}{5}\] \[=\frac{23}{5}-\frac{25}{9}-\frac{17}{15}-\frac{2}{5}\] Now, LCM of 5, 9 and 15 = 45 \[\therefore \frac{23}{5}-\frac{25}{9}-\frac{17}{15}-\frac{2}{5}\] \[=\frac{23\times 9}{5\times 9}-\frac{25\times 5}{9\times 5}-\frac{17\times 3}{15\times 3}-\frac{2\times 9}{5\times 9}\] \[=\frac{207}{45}-\frac{125}{45}-\frac{51}{45}-\frac{18}{45}=\frac{13}{45}\]
