What were the reasons for the conflict between the Nawab of Bengal and the British?

    Answer:

After the death of Aurangzeb, Bengal was ruled by Nawabs who were virtually independent of Mughal rule. The agents of the East India Company began to misuse the privileges. Private trade by the company servants was not included in the farman. The company servants used the dastaks for private trade. The Nawabs were not happy because they lost out on revenue. This led to a conflict between the East India Company and the Nawabs. Also, the East India Company fortified Calcutta without permission from Siraj-ud-daulah, the Nawab of Bengal. Moreover, they stocked ammunition within "PSs, the fort without the Nawab's permission. They also imposed taxes on goods entering Calcutta. Moreover, they stopped paying taxes and even undermined the authority of the Nawab and insisted that for trade to be profitable/ the custom duties had to be removed.
