JEE Main & Advanced Physics Electrostatics & Capacitance Question Bank Assertion and Reason

  • question_answer
Assertion             :       The tyres of aircraft's are slightly conducting. Reason : If a conductor is connected to ground, the extra charge induced on conductor will flow to ground.

    A)             If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

    B)             If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

    C)             If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D)             If the assertion and reason both are false.

    E)                 If assertion is false but reason is true.

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

During take off and landing, the friction between tyres and the run way may cause electrification of tyres. Due to conducting nature of tyre, the charge so collected is conducted to a ground and electrical sparking is avoided.
