JEE Main & Advanced Physics Gravitation / गुरुत्वाकर्षण Question Bank Assertion and Reason

  • question_answer
Assertion          :           The time period of revolution of a satellite close to surface of earth is smaller than that revolving away from surface of earth. Reason            :           The square of time period of revolution of a satellite is directly proportional to cube of its orbital radius.

    A) If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

    B)             If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

    C)             If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D)             If the assertion and reason both are false.

    E)             If assertion is false but reason is true.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

According to kepler's law\[{{T}^{2}}\propto {{r}^{3}}\propto {{(R+h)}^{3}}\] i.e. if distance of satellite is more then its time period will be more.
