  • question_answer
Assertion             :       When an object is placed between two plane parallel mirrors, then all the images found are of equal intensity. Reason                 :   In case of plane parallel mirrors, only two images are possible.

    A)             If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

    B)             If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

    C)             If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D)             If the assertion and reason both are false.

    E)             If assertion is false but reason is true.

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

When an object is placed between two plane parallel mirrors, then infinite number of images are formed. Images are formed due to multiple reflections. At each reflection, a part of light energy is absorbed. Therefore, distant images get fainter.
