    A man has some hens and cows. If the number of heads be 48 and the number of feet 140. The number of hens will be:

    Solution :

    Let no. of hen =x and no. of cows = y Now, total no. of heads = 48 \[\frac{SP}{M-SP}=\frac{100-d}{100}\]\[\because \]                 ...(1) And total no. of feet = 140 Now, hen has 2 feet and cow has 4 feet \[\frac{SP}{15}=\frac{100-20}{20}\] \[SP=\frac{80}{20}\times 15=Rs.60\]              ...(2) On solving equation (1) and (2), we get y = 22 and x = no. of hen = 26.
