What were the main features of Islamic architecture?

    Answer:

Muslim architecture had grandeur and spaciousness. The buildings were decorated with scrolls of flowers and verses of the Quran. No human or animal figures were used because it is against the Islamic beliefs. Geometrical or floral designs were interspersed with calligraphy and inlaid work. They added colour to their buildings by using red sandstone and glazed tiles. Use of pure white marble, inlay work of gold, silver and precious metals, cut and polished stones, gardens around the tombs, minarets in the mosques and palace halls were some of the chief features of architecture during the Mughals. The walls were decorated with precious and semi-precious stones. This technique was called pietra dura. The Muslims also introduced new architectural features like dome, pointed arch and minarets.
