      State the factors on which the speed of sound in a gas depends. 

    Answer:

       The speed of sound in a gas depends on the following factors Density At constant pressure, the speed of sound in a gas is inversely proportional to the square root of its density. i.e.. Speed of sound (b) Temperature The speed of sound in a gas is directly proportional to the square root of its absolute temperature. i.e.. Speed of sound (c) Humidity Sound speed is greater in humid or moist air than in dry air. (d) Pressure Pressure has no effect on the speed of sound in a gas.
