are two phases in life of poultry. These are
(i)Growing period The period
from birth upto the sexual maturity in the life of poultry is called growing
period. The chickens during this period are called growers. During this period
small and fixed amount of feed is given to the poultry and overcrowding of
chickens may supressed the growth. (2)
(ii) Laying period The period from sexual maturity till the end of
egg-laying is called laying period. The chicken during this period called layers.
The layers require enough and proper lighting. (2)
The causes of disease in a poultry are
(a) Overcrowding of chicks in a cage.
(b) Absence of proper cleaning and shelter facilities
(c) Nutritional deficiencies.
(d) Virus, bacteria and other parasitic organisms.
