    Answer:

                      Water molecule  consists of three interconnected atoms. Each water molecule splits into two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Atoms remain unchanged whereas molecules of a substance can be destroyed by a chemical reaction. Thus, we cannot say an atom of water. We say a molecule of water.
