The experimentally determined N-F bond length in \[N{{F}_{3}}\] is greater than the sum of the covalent radii of N and F. Assign reason.

    Answer:

Both nitrogen and fluorine atoms have very small size. Therefore, there is high electron density between the two atoms. This leads to repulsion in the bonded electrons and as a result, bond length of N-F bond is more than the sum of the covalent radii of the two atoms.
