  • question_answer 13)
A milkman sold two of his buffaloes for Rs 20,000 each. On one he made a gain of 5% and on the other a loss of 10%. Find his overall gain or loss. (Hint: Find CP of each)

    Answer:

                    Combined SP = Rs 20,000 \[\times \] 2 = Rs 40,000 For one buffalo SP of one buffalo = Rs 20,000 Gain = 5% \[\therefore \] If the SP is Rs 105, then CP = Rs 100 \[\therefore \] If the SP is Rs 20,000, then CP = Rs \[\frac{100}{105}\times 20,000\] = Rs \[\frac{4,00,000}{21}\] Hence, the CP of one buffalo is Rs. 4, 00, 000 \[\frac{4,00,000}{21}\] For one buffalo SP of the other buffalo = Rs 20,000 Loss = 10% \[\therefore \] If the SP is Rs 90, then CP = Rs 100 \[\therefore \] If the SP is Rs 20,000, then CP = Rs \[\frac{100}{90}\times 20,000\] = Rs \[\frac{2,00,000}{9}\] Hence, the CP of another buffalo is Rs. \[\frac{200000}{9}\]. \[\therefore \] Combined CP \[\text{=Rs}\frac{400000}{21}+\text{Rs}\,\frac{200000}{9}\] = Rs \[\frac{2600000}{63}\] \[\therefore \] Overall loss                     = Combined CP ? Combined SP = Rs\[\frac{26,00,000}{63}-\text{Rs}\,40,000\] = Rs \[\frac{80,000}{63}\] = Rs 1269.84
