Cost of 4 dozens bananas is Rs. 60. How many bananas can be purchased for Rs. 12.50?

    Answer:

                    We know that, 1 dozen = 12 units Given, in Rs. 60, number of bananas that can be purchased = 4 dozens\[=4\times 12=48\] [\[\because \]1 dozen = 12 units] \[\therefore \] In Rs. 1, number of bananas that can be purchased\[=\frac{48}{60}=\frac{48\div 12}{60\div 12}=\frac{4}{5}\] [\[\because \]HCF of 48 and \[60=2\times 2\times 3=12\]] \[\therefore \] In Rs. 12.50, number of bananas that can be purchased\[=\frac{4}{5}\times 12.50=\frac{50}{5}=10\] Hence, 10 bananas can be purchased for Rs. 12.50.
