How do substances like carbon dioxide and water  move in and out of the cell?

    Answer:

Whenaccumulates in high concentration inside the cell, diffusion occurs.  moves out of the cell from the region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. When a cell is placed in a solution with a different solute concentration the water tends to move either in or out of the cell according to its concentration gradient by the process of osmosis.
