9th Class Science Structure of the Atom

  • question_answer 12)
If number of electrons in an atom is 8 and number of protons is also 8, then (i) what is the atomic number of the atom ? and (ii) what is the charge on the atom?

    Answer:

We know that, No. of electrons (e) = No. of protons (p) = Atomic number (Z) (i)   No. of electrons = 8 Therefore, Atomic number = 8 (ii) The number of protons is equal to the number of electrons. So the atom will be neutral.
