7th Class Science Nutrition in Plants

  • question_answer 19)
Give a brief description of the process of synthesis of food in green plants.

    Answer:

Plants prepare their own food by the process of photosynthesis. Leaves of the plants have green pigment called chlorophyll, which helps them to capture the energy of the sunlight and they synthesis food from carbon dioxide and water. Thus, chlorophyll, sunlight, carbon dioxide and water help to carry out the process of photosynthesis. The solar energy is captured by the leaves and stored in the plant in the form of food. The reaction for the process of photosynthesis can be shown as follows: \[Carbon\,dioxide+Water\xrightarrow[Chlorophyll]{Sunlight}\underset{(food)}{\mathop{Carbohydrate}}\,+Oxygen\]   During photosynthesis, food is synthesized and oxygen is, released in the process.
