7th Class Science Nutrition in Plants

  • question_answer 1)
How plants prepare their own food?

    Answer:

Green plants can make their own food from simple substances like carbon dioxide and water present in their surroundings by the process of photosynthesis. In plants, water and minerals present in the soil are absorbed by roots and from air is taken through the stomata. The leaves have green pigment called chlorophyll, which help it to capture the energy of the sunlight. So, leaves of green plants containing chlorophyll synthesize carbohydrates in the presence of sunlight, water and carbon dioxide. \[C{{O}_{2}}+{{H}_{2}}O\xrightarrow[Chlorophyll]{Sunlight}Carbohydrate\,(glu\cos e)+{{O}_{2}}(oxygen)\]
