    What is the role of graphite rod in the electrometallurgy of aluminium?

    Answer:

    Oxygen gas liberated at anode will react with graphite of anode to form CO and CO2 gas. In case, some other metal acts as anode then oxygen will combine with aluminium liberated at cathode to give back Al2O3.
