The two strands in DNA are not identical but arecomplementary. Explain. (i) Discuss the bonding and pairing of bases. (ii) Draw the double helical structure of DNA molecule.

    Answer:

The two strands in DNA molecule are held together byhydrogen bonding, which is according to a specific rule. Adenine isbound thymine and guanine to cytosine. Due to this base pairingprinciple, the sequence of bases in one strand automatically fixes thesequence of bases in the other strand. Thus, the two strands are not identical but are complimentary.
