is treated with an acid chloride in presence of anhyd. . Since (formyl chloride) is not
stable, therefore, in Gattermann-Koch reaction, it is prepared in situ by
reacting CO with HCl gas in presence of anhydrous . Thus, Gattermann-Koch "action
is similar to F.C. acylation reaction.
