What measures, as an individual, you would take to reduce environmental pollution?

One of the important cuases of environmental pollution and eco-degradation is the craze for unlimited exploitation of every bit of environment. As an individual, everyone can help in decreasing the chances and speed of environment degradation by conservation of natural resources in the following ways: (i) Don't keep the water taps running, when not in use. (ii) Use less water consuming toilets. (iii) Watering to the plants should be done in the evening. (iv) Install rain-water harvesting system in the houses. (v) Drip irrigation system and sprinkling irrigation system should be used to water lawns etc. (vi) Avoiding wastage of energy because it is rightly said that energy saved is energy produced. (vii) Energy-saving heat and electrical devices should be used. (viii) Alternative sources of energy like solar energy, wind energy, nuclear energy, etc. should be developed. (ix) Soil erosion should be prevented by crop rotation, growing erosion-checking crops, afforestation and reforestation campaigns and active community participation, regulating grazing, etc. (x) Soil fertility should be restored through the activities like addition of fertilizers, green manuring, biological nitrogen fixation/etc.
